The village of Birmapur in Hoshiarpur was abuzz with excitement as the 15th Village Level Volleyball Tournament took place on the 18th and 19th of February 2023. The tournament, organized by Road Train Transport, Canada, owned by Gurdarshan Singh, was beautifully managed by Gurpreet Singh Gopa from New Zealand, S. Manjeet Singh from Punjab Police, and S. Inderjeet Singh, an Ex. Subedar.

The tournament garnered widespread attention and was graced by esteemed guests. S. Ajaib Singh Garcha, a renowned sports promoter and journalist from AKAL CHANNEL (UK), served as the chief guest. The guest of honor was S. Jagroop Singh Jarkhar, another esteemed sports promoter and journalist from AKAL CHANNEL. Their presence added to the prestige and grandeur of the event.

The tournament offered an impressive prize pool, with the first-place team receiving a substantial cash prize of 51,000/-. The second-place team was awarded 31,000/-, the third-place team received 15,000/-, and the fourth-place team secured 11,000/-. In addition to these prizes, special recognition was given to the best players from the quarter-finals.

A highlight of the tournament was the distribution of LED TVs to the best players. After each match in the quarter-finals, semi-finals, and the final match, seven LED TVs were presented to players who showcased exceptional performances. Two LED TVs were honored to Hardeep Singh Kukkarsuha and Hardeep Singh (Deepu Babak), while the remaining seven were given to other deserving players. The LED TVs ranged in size, with eight being 32 inches and the ninth LED TV, awarded during the final match, measuring 43 inches.

The tournament provided a remarkable platform for village-level players, offering them a great opportunity to showcase their talent and skills. Throughout the tournament, remarkable performances were witnessed, with standout players being recognized and rewarded for their exceptional contributions.

In the quarter-final match between Birampur and Lambra, Rohan Rahi emerged as the best player, earning himself the first LED TV.

Baljit Lakha from Sarhala won the second LED TV in the match between Babak and Sarhala.

Simmu Bhullar from Bhullar Team secured the third LED TV in the match against Mehmoodpur. Additionally, Happy and Kirat received an additional prize of Rs 1000/- each from Gurdarshan Singh, Canada.

In the fourth quarter-final match between Jagdev Kalan A Team and Damganj, the twin brothers Baba and Jagga were awarded the fourth LED TV for their outstanding performances.

The semi-finals witnessed intense competition, and in the first semi-final match between Birampur and Mehmoodpur, Hardeep Singh Kukkarsuha and Hardeep Singh (Deepu Babak) stole the show, earning themselves LED TVs for their exceptional contributions. The highest number of viewers was indeed in the first semi-final match between Birampur and Mehmoodpur. This match garnered immense attention, with a large audience both in the ground and on the FINE SPORTS LIVE YouTube Channel. The spectators were captivated by the intense gameplay and skill displayed by the players, making it a highlight of the tournament.

In the second semi-final match between Jagdev Kalan A and Sarhala, Manbir Singh Manna from Jagdev Kalan A Team was honored with an LED TV.

The highly anticipated final match between Jagdev Kalan A and Birmapur saw the grandest LED TV, measuring 43 inches, being awarded to Hardeep Singh Kukkarsuha. The final match was a spectacle, and the large audience, both in the ground and on the FINE SPORTS LIVE YouTube Channel, witnessed a thrilling display of talent and competitiveness.

The Volleyball Tournament Birmapur (Hoshiarpur) will be remembered as one of the best tournaments in the history of Punjab’s volleyball. The exceptional organization, generous prizes, and recognition of talented players made it an unforgettable event that celebrated sportsmanship and the spirit of competition.
